Tito’s & Café Mambo – Goa

by Capt. Samarth Singh on October 12th, 2010

A decent bar, awesome small eats and ample room, Tito’s & Café Mambo seems to have cracked the code by appealing to both club and lounge patrons.

Café Tito’s is a well situated club off the Baga – Calangute road in Goa. The wood finished interiors of the patio style lounge are just as appealing as the less roomy dance floor which sports a traditional bar table and a DJ vestibule. Friday and Saturday nights are crowded but thanks to Goa’s party culture, a weeknight isn’t a letdown at all. The music rates an unquestionable ten on ten. We hung around for hours and not once did we hear a bollywood track.

Café Titos’s offers a fairly wide range of alcohol but they seem to have refrained from premium alcohol. Cocktails are unusually overpriced and we were a little disappointed when our drinks showed up in plastic, disposable glasses. When asked why, they said that customers tend to break glasses. As a paying customer though, that’s difficult to stomach without a sour taste.

As far as quality of crowd goes, Tito’s management has levied an INR 500 entry fee for couples but that doesn’t help much because stag entries are common place. All you need to do is offer them more money. That takes away from the quality and makes the ambience more intimidating.

All said and done, Tito’s is one of the only night clubs in Goa which offers passable alcohol, food, ambience and room at the same time. We wouldn’t really say it accents the best traditions of Goa’s night life, but it’s certainly worth one visit.
